After the third Trial and the fourth leg of the Skyrunner® World Series in Portugal Sunday, June 13, Spaniard Tofol Castañer with his second place moves up to head the men’s ranking, while Italian Emanuela Brizio (absent) remains leader in the women’s category.
The 3 Cantaros race held in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park was also a qualifier for the Portughese Mountain Running Championship and therefore enjoyed some stiff competition from many national runners who in fact came first in both categories.
The men’s winner was Aires Sousa who closed in 1h44’08”, followed by Castañer, 1h44’24” and Spaniard Jessed Hernandez in 1h46’05”, while in the women’s field, Rosa Madureira was home in 2h07’24”, followed by Spaniards Nerea Amilibia in 2h011’02” and Lucinda Moreiras in 2h12’50”.
Next stop on the World Series is Montgenèvre in France on August 1st with the Chaberton Marathon , but in the meantime, the 2010 Skyrunning World Championships which take place every four years, will be held in Italy where teams representing their countries will participate in the Vertical Kilometer® in Canazei on July 16 and in the SkyMarathon® on July 25 for the World Championship title.
