COMPRESSPORT® athletes, Italians Marco De Gasperi and Elisa Desco both took second on the podium in the first Skyrunner® World Series race of the season on May 25. The Zegama-Aizkorri in Spain’s Basque Country, is renowned for attracting a highly competitive world-class field. This year was no exception, and the dynamic Desco and De Gasperi duo showed pace and technical prowess in extremely challenging conditions.
Desco, racing against strong female competition revelled in the muddy conditions using her climbing ability to hold off 2013 winner, Maite Maiora, who placed third, with the unstoppable American Stevie Kremer taking the win.
Marco De Gasperi once again traded blows with his old sparring partner, Kilian Jornet. The pair of them pushed each other to the limit resulting in a new course record for Jornet and a new personal record for De Gasperi.
Spaniard Emma Roca placed an excellent 10th and Martin Gaffuri completed the COMPRESSPORT® team line up with a top 50 placing using the Quad sleeves and the R2 calf sleeves that not only improve performance but enhance recovery.
Responding to the problems that everyday athletes face, COMPRESSPORT® will now turn their attention to the Skyrunning World Championships at the end of June in Chamonix, the endurance capital of the world, where the leading compression brand will be present as Official Partner.
