2016 Skyrunning World Championships general rules

ISF Rules Extract

GENERAL – The World Championships are open to individuals and teams. Only nations will be ranked in the team category.
National ranking is open to the ISF Members and nations approved by the ISF. Only one team will be allowed per nation.
All team members must be of the nationality of the country they represent.

NATIONAL RANKING – The national team of each country must be declared on the ISF form at the beginning of the Championships and updated only for registering new members at least 12 hours before each race. After registering with the ISF, entry must be made direct with the individual race organizer in compliance with the rules of that race. Athletes with dual nationality must select one nationality to represent at the beginning of each season.

RACES – The Vertical Kilometer®, SkyMarathon® and Ultra SkyMarathon® are open to individual athletes who have a medical certificate for competitive sports and meet any vetting requirements.

RACE RULES – The race rules of the Vertical Kilometer®, SkyMarathon® and Ultra SkyMarathon®, conforming to the ISF skyrunning definition (art. 2.4) are listed in Section 3 for organisers and in Section 5 for competitors). ISF skyrunning rules will prevail in case of dispute.

INDIVIDUAL POINTS SYSTEM – Each race will assign points based on the men’s/women’s results according to the following breakdown: 100-88-78-72-68-66-64-62-60-58-56-54-52-50 down to 2 points for the finishers.

NATIONAL TEAMS POINTS SYSTEM – The team ranking system is based on the individual points scored by the first three men and the first woman of the same nation in each race.

INDIVIDUAL TITLES – Individual men’s and women’s titles are awarded in each of the three
disciplines. Individual combined titles are based on the best results of the Vertical Kilometer® and SkyRace®.

NATIONAL TITLES – will be based on the results scored by the first three men and the first woman of the same nation in each race.

AWARDS
a) At the end of each race, the first three ranked men and women will receive medals
b) The first three men and women with the best results in the combined ranking, will receive medals
(Vertical / Sky)
c) Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the first three ranked countries
d) A total prize purse of €20,000 (twenty-thousand euros) will be awarded between the three races
